All India Minority Forum Hosts Muharram Prayer Meeting for World Peace, Pays Tribute to Late Advocate Idris Ali
14th July, on the occasion of the upcoming Muharram, the All India Minority Forum organized a prayer meeting for world peace with religious leaders of all faiths and a discussion session on the significance of Muharram, along with a tribute to the late former MP and MLA Advocate Idris Ali, for his soul’s peace. This event was held at Ripon Lane, Kolkata.
The meeting was conducted by M.A. Ali, General Secretary of the All India Minority Forum. The chief guest was Maulana Shafique Qasmi, Imam of Kolkata’s Nakhoda Mosque. Other notable attendees included the President of the All India Minority Forum and eminent lawyer of Kolkata High Court, Imran Ali, social worker Kamruddin Malik, Dr. Anwarul Islam, Sardar Kalu Singh, Mani Maharaj, Akram Hossain Sahil, and Mohammad Wasi Akhtar.
The chief guest, Maulana Shafique Qasmi, explained the significance of Muharram, stating that it is a month of mourning. Imam Hussain, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), was martyred while protesting against injustice and establishing righteousness. The tyrant and arrogant Yazid killed Imam Hussain, the beloved grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), on the 10th of Muharram.
Imran Ali, the President of the All India Minority Forum and an eminent lawyer of Kolkata High Court, said that this month, Muharram, is a month of mourning, and people around the world honor and commemorate Imam Hussain’s sacrifice for justice. He remembered his father, who would also commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussain with respect. He mentioned that they have gathered in this memorable meeting to realize the vision of the late former MP and MLA Advocate Idris Ali. He also acknowledged the leadership of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who is successfully leading West Bengal forward. The people of West Bengal have shown their trust in her in the Lok Sabha elections and in the recent four by-elections. He extended his congratulations and respect to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
